recyclingCall the JunkLion™ supports responsible recycling and waste management. The information on this page is provided to help you manage your recyclable materials in a safe and efficient manner.

Cherry Hill Township ordinance requires that you set trash and recyclables curb side no earlier than 5:30 p.m, the night before collection and no later than 7 a.m, the day of collection. Trash and yard waste containers should not exceed the 50lb weight limit.

Municipal Curb Side Recycling

New Jersey state law requires that residents and business recycle. Cherry Hill receives credit for recycled items. Every item, your household recycles saves you money!

Glass, aluminum, tin, newspaper, cardboard and #1, #2, #4, #5 & #7 plastics should be placed in designated blue RecycleBank containers, Recyclable items are collected by and automated truck and must be inside the container in order to be collected. Cherry Hill now practices single-stream recycling; there is no need to sort your recycling.

Municipal Drop Off Recycling Facility

Motor oil, car tires, electronics, cell phones, plastics bags, CFL/fluorescent bulbs, rechargeable batteries and car batteries can be deposited at the Department of Public Works during yard Operation Hours.

Paint (water-based/latex) can deposited with regular trash once dried (by air or by using sand or kitty litter). Please do not bring paint to the Department of Public Works Complex.

Motor oil, car tires, and car batteries may also be deposited at your local gas station and auto parts retailers. Television can also be dropped off at Goodwill stores to be recycled.

Bagging Leaves – keep bags open; NO plastic bags

  • Leaves must be placed in biodegradable paper bags or open trash bins. Free leaf bags are available for pick up at the Department of Public Works and Town Hall and are sponsored by RecycleBank. Plastic bags will be left curb side.
  • Bagging leaves keeps storm drains clear of debris to help prevent flooding.
  • Bagging saves taxpayer funds, minimizing collection costs and allowing crews to send to other Township business.
  • Leaves in open cans or paper bags are picked up weekly on your regular collection day; rain or early show won’t delay pickup.
  • Neighborhoods are cleaner. Leaf piles won’t block traffic or blow onto neighbors’ yards.
  • It’s safer. Leaf piles are a dangerous place for children to play.
  • Fire hazards are reduced as unbagged leaves are more likely to catch fire from hot vehicle engines.

Private Lawn Services

If you hire a lawn service to rake your leaves, please note that they cannot rake leaves to the curb for municiple collection. It is the responsibility of the lawn service to haul leaves away, it is the homeowner’s responsibility to ensure their lawn service provides proper removal. Lawn services may haul leaves to the Kresson Road Ecology Site. Please call Public Works for Ecology Site hours and to receive a permit to use the site. Homeowners may also call Public Works for more information.

Township Leaf Collection

Cherry Hill Township uses heavy equipment to collect leaves at the cur. Keep leaf piles in the park strip, as close too the curb as possible (but not in the street). Please wait until your neighborhood is posted with collection signs before raking leaves to the curb.

Please only place leaves at the curb, not branches or other yard waste. In addition, leaves placed curb side may not be closer than 10 feet from a storm drain.

Residents may take leaves directly to our Ecological Center on Kresson Road. Please call for dates and hours of operation.

Note: Please note that a second leaf pick-up is not guaranteed due to weather restraints. Again, bagging allows for guaranteed weekly collection. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Township Leaf Compost

The Township provides free leaf compost. Please note that supply is limited and provided on a first come, first served basis. Access to the property is limited to Department of Public Works yard hours. Compost is available to Cherry Hill residents only. No landscapers.
